UFC President Dana White revealed today in a video message on his Twitter account that Nate Marquardt has been cut from the organization following his withdrawal from his headlining bout with Rick Story at tomorrow’s UFC Live On Versus 4 event.
“I’m sure you heard that Nate Marquardt is out, it’s true,” White stated in a video on his Twitter account. “He failed his medicals. Not only is he out of this fight and out of the main event on Versus, he will no longer be with the UFC.”
Marquardt has long been one of the world’s top middleweights, and decided to make the drop to welterweight at the urging of his friend and teammate Georges St-Pierre. Now he finds himself terminated from the world’s premiere mixed-martial arts organization.
While no official reason has been given for Marquardt’s withdrawal from tomorrow’s fight, it is known that Marquardt was not medically cleared to fight.
Charlie Brenneman will fill in for Marquardt to face Story at tomorrow’s event. Brenneman was originally slated to meet T.J. Grant on the preliminary card, however Grant was forced to w
