Dana White Clarifies New Five Round Main Event Policy

While this will not effect most of the scheduled UFC pay per view cards through , with championship fights announced for those cards, it will likely start with “UFC on Versus 5” with a fight between Chris Lytle and .

Many are left wondering how the policy will affect the problematic scenarios where fighters are scratched off cards due to injuries.

For example, in the case of where replaced an ailing by fighting . In that case, Carwin would have signed a new bout agreement that would have made the fight five rounds regardless of the short notice.

However, if a situation occured like , where both and dropped out and a light heavyweight bout between Matt Hamill and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was moved to the main event, the fight between Hamill and Rampage would have remained a three round bout.
