– Following UFC purchasing Strikeforce, Strikeforce will adopt identical unified rules, notably including elbows to the head on the ground, but will still use a hexagon cage instead of the UFC’s Octagon, UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta announced on Monday. Outside of the initial rules change, Dana White promised “business as usual” for the promotion, including airing up to 16 events each year on Showtime through 2014.
