In a surprise announcement at , Jon will next month at UFC 128 in a UFC Light Heavyweight title bout against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, but what some may find interesting, is that according to the champ, Jones wasn’t the front runner for the shot until others turned it down.

“The UFC in other alternatives, but it didn’t work out. For some reason he (Jackson) didn’t accepted it. I’ll have to change my training because he’s a lot different from Rashad, much taller, and it’ll be a great challenge. He’s been surprising everybody in the UFC, everybody with easy, and it’ll be a tough fight for me.
