UFC Hall of Famer Randy “The Natural” Couture’s fighting career has been in question lately as the legend has been pursuing film roles and a waning desire to continue fighting. Couture dropped a bombshell on his Twitter last night, saying that he had decided to call it quits.
“I think I’m at the end of it y’all,” Couture wrote. “It’s time.
“It’s time to move on and focus on all the other amazing things going on in my life,” he later posted on his Facebook account.
However Couture went on to tell Josh Gross of ESPN.com that the announcement may have been a bit premature.
“I’ve been saying in interviews for two months that it’s time for me to move on and focus on the other stuff in my life,” said Couture. “For some reason because I wrote it instead of said it, everyone’s going on about it.”
He went on to note that he had turned down two fights in the past few months, however would accept bouts with Lyoto Machida or UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua if they were offered to him.
Couture had recently revealed his scheduled involvement in two upcoming films–a new project with Bruce Willis called The Setup and a sequel to The Expendables. Couture has appeared in several films at this point, but his role in this summer’s The Expendables was easily his most high-profile to date.
