Chael Sonnen Fails Drug Test, Silva Rematch on Jeopardy

failed his post-fight drug test following  his loss to current UFC middleweight champ in . He was tested positive for an undisclosed performance enhancing drug after the event that was held in Oakland, California, the California State Athletic Commission last August 7 and has been confirmed to Sherdog.

If it carries on, Sonnen will eventually face up to a one year suspension that will affect his immediate rematch with Silva which had already been scheduled in either January or February.

“If it’s true, I feel really bad for him, I know he did it to himself but it is really sad, he put on such a great performance that night. It is just a shame it will be tarnished.” Silva’s Manager Ed Soares said via Sherdog.com

Sonnen made a stand to his trash talk and definitely provide the best challenge there is yet to the middleweight king as he took charge of the whole four and a half rounds in the UFC 117 with Silva, but in the end he was submitted in the final minutes of the bout.
