Middleweight contender and former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort is expected to return in the Octagon this coming November against a soon to be announced opponent. Belfort won’t challenge current UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva because of the rib injury he suffered before his fight against Chael Sonnen and will be sidelined until next year.
“The Phenom” was originally slated to challenge Silva at UFC 112 last April but was forced to withdraw due to a shoulder injury and has been sidelined ever since. His last fight was against former UFC middleweight champ Rich Franklin at UFC 103 last September 2009 where he knocked out Franklin in the opening round.
“This year I am not going to fight for the title because the champion is hurt ,but November we will be in action for sure that is what I can say.” Belfort said via his twitter account.
