“The Phenom” Vitor Belfort was originally scheduled to challenge the current UFC Middleweight champ and fellow Brazilian Anderson “Spider” Silva last UFC 112 but an injury made him to withdraw from that fight and gave Demian Maia an opportunity to step in and take his spot.
Belfort’s comment on Silva via Sherdog.com:
“What bothered me about Anderson Silva, and also bothered us all was the lack of respect he had with the athlete and the man he faced inside the Octagon, he talks dirty words, skipping and then kneeling to ask for forgiveness and then not wanting to apologize. It was very controversy, people tried to tell him but his manager Ed Soares translated incorrectly.” Belfort said.
“What also bothers me is that I had great respect and affection for him when I knew him. But now he is not the same as the Anderson I know.” He added.
