A unanimous decision was announced in the UFC 114 main event where Evans was victorious against Rampage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Las Vegas that was on Saturday. The judges were all for Evans and scored it 30-27, 29-28 and 30-27. Evans will be the top contender for UFC light heavyweight champ Muaricio “Shogun” Rua.
The Niagara Falls, N. Y., native started the fight with an explosion where he gave Jackson a right hand in the opening exchange. In the first round, Evans scored with a takedown and hastened out a fast lead ever in UFC history.
Still the second round was for Evans with following the same pattern and kept pushing the fight in the squeeze which had Jackson’s back pressed against the cage. A weary Jackson retreated to his corner at the end of round two. At the third round, Jackson had his chance as he bullied Evans into the cage and scared him to finish it off the ground.
Evans endured the attack and Jackson perhaps lost gas couldn’t take advantage anymore. But Evans took another takedown and finally pinned Jackson amongst the cage and dropped punches from above.
