UFC President Dana White announced on ESPN that their organization has been eyeing a fight between Silva and Sonnen. The scheduled fight will be on August 7 in Salt Lake City. Energy Solutions arena will be the host venue of the said event.

Silva, after winning against Demian Maia at UFC 112 main event, will prove his worth as one of the best pound for pound fighter. While, Sonnen declared that he will defeat and heal “the cancer” of Silva. Sonnen’s current record is 24-10 in his mixed martial arts career with famous victories.

Silva-Sonnen and Dos Santos- Nelson are the only fight rumored for UFC 117, while no fights have still been discussed for UFC on Versus 2.
