Thiago Alves underwent successful surgery on Wednesday. The surgery separated an artery from a vain in his brain, which was detected last week in a pre-fight CT scan. The irregularity forced him off the UFC 111 card against Jon Fitch. Alves is expected to be able to resume training soon.
