Thiago Alves Scratched From UFC 111 Card, Undergoing Surgery

will be unable to fight at Saturday’s event after failing a pre-fight CT scan that showed irregularity with an artery in his brain.  Alves is expected to see a specialist about the condition.

Alves will not be replaced and his fight with Fitch will be scratched from the UFC 111 card. The preliminary bout between Kurt Pellegrino and Fabricio Camoes will be moved to the main card.

Alves will soon undergo minor surgery to correct the issue and expects to be able to resume training in a few weeks and is targeting a May return.
