With this bout with diverticulitis, I’ve been able to step back, reevaluate my life, and reevaluate my training,” said Lesnar. “(The interim title) was a business decision the UFC had to make. Really, that belt is a make believe belt to satisfy the company and to satisfy the heavyweight division. I’m still the heavyweight champion. I haven’t defended my championship for less than a year. I’m excited to get back in the cage. I AM the UFC heavyweight champion.

“As a fighter, my first and foremost goal is to win in the Octagon. That’s the most-important thing, and what’s said outside the Octagon is purely entertainment.
