The UFC has officially announced that Demian Maia will replace the injured Vitor Belfort as Anderson Silva’s opponent and will fight the middleweight champion at UFC 112 on April 10 in Abu Dhabi.

Maia (12-1) returned with a win at UFC 109 with a unanimous decision against Dan Miller. Maia was coming off his first career loss, a 21-second knockout to Nate Marquardt in August.

“It’s always tough when a top fighter like Vitor Belfort has to pull out of a big title fight, but we have found a high quality replacement,” UFC President Dana said.
