- According to a report by mmasurvival.com, UFC fighters Kevin Burns, Edgar Garcia, Shane Nelson and Darrill Schoonover have been released from their UFC contracts. Kevin Burns was on a three-fight losing streak, while Nelson and Garcia have lost two in a row. Darrill Schoonover only suffered one official loss, which was at the TUF 10 Finale show, but also suffered an “unofficial” knockout against Marcus Jones on the show.

- Ultimate Fighter 10 contestant Marcus “Big Baby” Jones (4-2) has reportedly decided to retire from active MMA competition. The former first-round NFL draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quickly became a fan favorite on last season’s “Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights” after he became the only member of “Team Rampage” to win a fight and advance to the quarter-finals of the show. After he was knocked out of the competition in the semi-finals of the show by Brendan Schaub, Jones had hinted at retiring. However, the UFC convinced him to fight fellow Ultimate Fighter 10 contestant, Matt Mitrione, at the “Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale” earlier this month. Mitrione ended up picking up the victory after an impressive second-round KO.

Although he is retiring from active competition, Jones does have a degree in communications from North Carolina and could go into broadcasting.
