UFC Signs Released Strikeforce Fighter, UFC 102 Update

- Phil Baroni has signed a new multi-fight deal with the UFC. Baroni will participate in the welterweight division and hasn’t fought in the UFC since UFC 51 in 2005. Baroni is 3-1 in his last four fights most recently suffering a decision loss to Joe Riggs in June.

Baroni had the following to say about returning to the UFC: “There’s nothing to celebrate,” Baroni said. “You celebrate after you win. Getting picked up isn’t (worth) celebrating. After you win, you have a celebration.”

Strikeforce released Baroni on Thursday after he went 0-2 in the promotion. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said that he would consider bringing Baroni back if he could put together a win streak.

- The official weigh-ins for will take place August 28th at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, OR. The weigh-ins are free and open to the public and start at 7PM ET. Doors open at 6PM ET. takes place the next night at the Rose Garden. Here is the full card.
