Dana White revealed at the UFC 101 post-fight press conference that despite dominating a former Light Heavyweight champion of the UFC, Anderson Silva’s next fight will almost undoubtedly be a defense of his Middleweight title in a rematch with former PRIDE Light Heavyweight and Middleweight champion Dan Henderson.
Of course Henderson is coming off of the impressive knockout victory over fellow Ultimate Fighter coach Michael Bisping at UFC 100. Silva now comes into the fight having fixed up his relationship with the U.S. fight audience, evident last night by the harsh Philadelphia crowd embracing “The Spider” after boo’ing him vehemently before his fight with Forrest Griffin.
A reporter brought up possibly putting together Anderson Silva vs. Lyoto Machida at 205 lbs., considering Silva’s dominance over a recent 205 lb. champ in Griffin earlier in the night. Anderson Silva tried keeping the mood positive in the room, but made it pretty clear he would not be fighting his friend and training partner Machida. Dana White took the microphone immediately after, claiming he would find a way to put that fight together if things keep going the way they have been.
